Laura's way of working

Laura approaches her counselling / psychotherapy work with clients from a person-centred perspective. She puts the client at the centre of the therapy process and will tailor her approach to meet their unique needs and preferences. As well as person-centred therapy, Laura often uses cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) and elements from Gestalt Therapy and Emotion-Focussed Therapy where she feels these may be helpful for a client. She aims to build a good therapeutic relationship with each client and to provide a safe space in which clients can explore their difficulties and bring about meaningful change.

Laura's background and experience

Laura has experience working as a support worker with a homeless charity; as a mental health volunteer with a charity working to alleviate poverty and improve education for children; and also providing voluntary support in a listening support service.

Laura has a BSc in Psychology from the University of Aberdeen. She is currently in the final stages of a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology with Glasgow Caledonian University.
