Lorraine Murphy is an experienced counsellor/psychotherapist who works with individual adults, couples, and adult families. She works with a wide range of issues and problems including: anxiety; depression, stress; anger; assertiveness; bereavement/grief; eating and body image; chronic illness; life transitions; relationship issues; panic; relaxation; autism; and many more issues. 

Lorraine has particular experience in working with depression/anxiety, loss, adjustment, relationships, stress, anger, abuse, autism, and parenting stress.

Lorraine's way of working

Lorraine is a non-judgemental and supportive practitioner who believes that the therapeutic relationship is key to successful counselling/psychotherapy. She uses a range of therapy options in her work depending on the needs and preferences of each individual. These include: Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Emotion-Focussed Therapy. Lorraine works in an empathetic, understanding and collaborative way, helping each client determine suitable therapeutic goals and providing support as they move towards these goals at a pace that is right for them.

Lorraine's background and training

Lorraine has worked as a counsellor/psychotherapist in the NHS and charity settings for about ten years. 

She has a Post-Graduate Certificate in Autism and Asperger's Syndrome from Sheffield Hallam University; a Post-Gradate Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling from Strathclyde University; and a BSc(hons) in Psychology from Glasgow Caledonian University. 

Lorraine is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
