Amanda's way of working
Amanda is an empathetic therapist who aims to provide a safe, comfortable space for clients where they can feel understood, believed and not judged. She adapts her therapeutic approach to benefit each client's individual needs. Amanda believes that being flexible in her approach is important to help clients move forward throughout their therapeutic journey with hope so they can learn to let go of negative emotions that may be holding them back and begin to feel themselves again.Her counselling/psychotherapy work is influenced by a variety of therapeutic approaches, such as Person-Centred Counselling; Integrative Counselling; Solution Focused Counselling; Brief Therapy; Existential Counselling; Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT); Gestalt Counselling; and Psychodynamic Counselling. Additionally, she is able to work with people who have experienced trauma using a trauma-informed approach.
Amanda's background and experience
Amanda had a background in the healthcare sector before she became a counsellor. She has ten years of counselling experience, and was also one of the project managers for a residential retreat programme for survivors of childhood sexual abuse.Amanda has an Honours Degree in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling from Middlesex University, and a Diploma of Higher Education in Person-Centred Counselling from Middlesex University.
Amanda is a registered member of BACP.
