Arlene Malcolm is an experienced senior counsellor / psychotherapist who works online with adults with a wide range of issues and problems including: depression; anxiety (general, social); abuse; alcohol issues; anger/aggression; autism spectrum disorder; bereavement / grief; dreaming; life transitions; neglect; obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD); self-harm; stress; trauma; and many more issues.

Arlene specialises in working with: gender diverse adults - including parents and partners; adults who have long-term physical or mental health conditions as well as with their family members and carers; adults experiencing grief and loss; and those affected by substance misuse issues including family members.

Arlene's way of working

Arlene believes that everyone is creative and resourceful, but at times of distress, they may need help to reconnect with existing strengths and skills and to further develop helpful ways of coping. She works in partnership with clients in an accepting and non-judgemental way and aims to empower her clients so that they may be more able to cope with the difficulties life may present.

Arlene uses a number of different therapeutic approaches in her counselling / psychotherapy work including elements from cognitive-behavour therapy (CBT) and works with each client to tailor a therapy plan to meet their individual needs and preferences. Her focus is on working together in a creative way, so clients can shape their own therapy and get the maximum benefit from it.
