She works with a wide range of issues and problems including: stress; depression; anxiety; identity and self-esteem; abuse (from adulthood and childhood); carer responsibilities; body image; neglect; relationship difficulties; sexuality; self-harm; bereavement / grief; and many more issues.
She has a specific interest in working with with clients with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), workplace stress, and trauma, as well as with early stage dementia, life changing illness and terminal illness. In addition, Caroline has an interest in working with those currently serving in the forces as well as with veterans.
Caroline has particular experience of working with clients who are neurodivergent.
Caroline's way of working
Caroline takes a person-centred approach to her work with clients. However, she recognises that everyone is unique and she will incorporate elements from other approaches/techniques, including cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT), where she feels this meets a client's needs and preferences. She aims to provide a supportive environment where clients feel able to work through their issues and problems and is always interested in working creatively with clients and tailoring the experience to their needs and requirements.Caroline offers short-term and longer-term online counselling and psychotherapy. She also offers supervision for fellow practitioners on a one-to-one basis.
Caroline's background and training
Caroline has experience of providing counselling services to people of varying ages and with a range of backgrounds and difficulties. She has worked in the NHS, the voluntary sector and for the NSPCC. She also works as a tutor for foundation skills counselling at a local university.Caroline has an MSc (Distinction) Person-Centred Counselling from the University of Aberdeen and COSCA Counselling skills 1-4. In addition, she has undertaken training in: A CBT Approach to Anxiety and Depression, Understanding Dyslexia, Forced Marriage, and Suicide. She is an accredited counsellor/psychotherapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Prior to training in counselling, Caroline worked in managerial roles within the oil and gas industry. She holds an MA (hons) degree in Management and Business Law.
