Elizabeth Dalgleish is an experienced senior psychological therapist who works online with adults and children/young people (age 10+). She also offers online consultations for parents/carers of children and young people. She works with a wide range of issues and problems including: anxiety; depression/low mood; stress (including exam stress); eating and body image issues; post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma, abuse; bereavement/grief and other loss; anger; low self-esteem; and many other issues.
Elizabeth is particularly experienced in working with children and young people as well as with women from a variety of ethnic minority backgrounds.
Elizabeth also offers clinical supervision to fellow practitioners.
Elizabeth's way of working
Elizabeth is a sensitive and collaborative therapist who aims to build a strong therapeutic relationship with each client. She uses both person-centred therapy and cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) in her work and combines these with aspects of transactional analysis, Gestalt therapy, coaching, inner child work, and play therapy, according to the needs and preferences of each individual.
Elizabeth's background and training
Elizabeth is a highly experienced therapist who has worked in a range of therapeutic settings including health, education, and the voluntary sector as well as in private practice.
She also has extensive experience lecturing and tutoring in psychology, counselling, and CBT in university and college settings, including working as a prison tutor; in schools for young people facing adversity or trauma; and as a visiting research supervisor and lecturer at various universities.
Elizabeth has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, a Diploma in CBT, a Certificate in School Counselling, the COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills, a Masters degree in Psychology and Education, a Post-Graduate qualification in Sport Psychology, and a Degree in Psychology and Politics. In addition, she has undertaken training in a number of areas including: mindfulness, art therapy, working with challenging behaviour, and peri-natal mood disorders.
Elizabeth is a qualified and experienced teacher of physical education.
She is a full member (MBPsS) with graduate basis for chartership of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
