Jamie Lumley is a counsellor/psychotherapist who works online with individual adults and young people with a wide range of issues and problems including: anxiety; depression/low mood; stress; abuse; anger; assertiveness; bereavement/grief; body image; bullying; chronic illness; eating disorders; gender/sexual identity; insomnia; loneliness; low self-esteem; mindfulness; neglect; obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD); pain; panic; phobias; post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); psychosis; relaxation; risk taking; self-harm; trauma; and many more issues. 

Jamie has particular experience of working with people dealing with unhelpful habits, perinatal mental health and neurodiversity. 
 

Jamie's way of working

Jamie is a non-judgmental and respectful practitioner who works in a non-directive way with clients. He aims to make clients feel heard, validated, valued and accompanied during their sessions. Jamie tailors his counselling/psychotherapy approach to meet the individual needs and preferences of each person. He may use Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred Therapy or elements from both in his work with clients. 
 

Jamie's background and training

Jamie has 25 years' experience supporting people with issues relating to unhelpful coping strategies. He has also undertaken training in perinatal mental health and has worked as a senior counsellor in perinatal services as well as working in private practice since qualifying as a psychotherapist five years ago. In addition, Jamie has taught English as a Foreign Language on and off for 30 years to various groups as well as to individual students and he also worked as a freelance photographer for 15 years. 

Jamie has a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from The Institute of Counselling and an HE Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy from The University of the Highlands and Islands. He has completed additional training in postnatal depression and understanding autism. In addition, Jamie has a BA degree in Combined English and French.

Jamie is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and an accredited member of NCPS.

Jamie's fee
