Susan has particular experience working with adults facing common issues such as anxiety, stress, and depression. She has a special interest in working with self-esteem, neurodivergence, and trauma and incorporating grounding, breathwork, and mindfulness-based approaches into therapy.
Susan's way of working
Susan works in a collaborative and flexible way with each client and adapts her approach to meet their individual needs and preferences. She uses elements from a number of different therapeutic approaches in her work with clients including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, creativity approaches, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.Susan's background and training
Susan has 15 years' experience working with individuals (and groups) who are seeking to improve their mental health and wellbeing. As well as working as a counsellor in a university during this time, she has also worked as a mental health practitioner, an advocacy worker, and a yoga teacher. Prior to working in this field, Susan worked as a chartered accountant in the charity sector.Susan has an MSc in Counselling from Abertay University, a Certificate in Counselling Skills from Mary Ward Centre, and a Yoga Teaching Diploma. She is committed to ongoing professional development and regularly undertakes additional training to ensure her practice remains current and responsive to client needs. Recent training includes therapeutic work with autistic adults and adults with ADHD.
Susan is an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
