Elaine's ways of working

Elaine works primarily from a person-centred approach and she integrates this with a number of psychological and counselling approaches including: Dialetical Behaviour Informed Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy, CBT Skills, Emotion Focused Therapy, Systemic Family Therapy, and related therapies such as Mindfulness based Therapies.

Elaine believes that each person is unique and she aims to provide a holistic and tailored approach to therapy that is designed to suit each individual's needs and preferences. She believes in building a strong therapeutic relationship with each client and believes this is vital for successful therapy outcomes. Elaine is flexible, open and honest with her clients and believes that collaboration and dialogue are important for understanding the world of the client from their perspective. She believes that the client's needs and preferences should always be at the heart of therapy.

When working with families, Elaine will aim to better understand an individual in relationship with all other family members. Family therapy aims to identify deeply entrenched patterns and unhealthy dynamics within the family system. Interventions are unique, present focused and designed to address the particular needs of the individual / family.

Elaine works with clients on a short-term and medium to long-term basis
